Juan Pablo Angel was selected as MLS Player of the Week for Week Seven of the MLS Season.
The reason is his performance which helped the New York Red Bulls win 4 to 0 against the Columbus Crew during his first season with the team.

Juan Pablo Angel has come a long way from his days playing for the Club Atletico de Medellin and River Plate between 1993-2000. It was during this time that he scored 64 goals in 168 appearances.
He signed with Aston Villa and stayed with them from 2001 to 2007. In Aston Vila, Angel finished as the top scorer for the FA Season 2003-2004 with 16 goals only to decline further within the team. Regardless, he was able to score 44 goals in 175 appearances.
Juan Pablo Angel signed with the New York Red Bulls after being marginalized further in the Aston Villa order of players. The condition was the approval of his US Visa Request which became a reality.
Juan Pablo Angel deserves the award for his perseverance in the face of adversity and for his great start with the New York Red Bulls.
