Chelsea Signs Boswinga

May 12, 2008 | Author: Roberto | Filed under: Chelsea

I heard from BBC Sports News about Chelsea’s New Acquisition from Porto whose name is Jose Boswinga. Jose Boswinga was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was raised in Portugal where he developed a love of football [soccer]. He started his career with Boavista and was acquired by Jose Mourinho to play in Porto. It was in Porto where he won four titles in the Portuguese Championship and One Championship League.

While it has been the ambition of Jose Boswinga to play in the Premier League and the fact that Chelsea managed to beat Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson in signing him, there have been critics. One of the critics of Jose Boswinga has been Alberto Da Silva who is the journalist for the magazine World Soccer. Alberto Da Silva has criticized Jose Boswinga for being an “average player who did not deserve to be in Chelsea”. Alberto Da Silva has even commented about how Chelsea “wasted 16.2 Pound Sterlings in signing Boswinga.”

I have a reply for Alberto Da Silva and other critics of Jose Boswinga based on the fact that I listen to Portuguese Football Games on Portuguese Radio Television. After hearing the games on my Windows Media Player on the Internet in my laptop, I would like to say that Jose Boswinga may not be a Ronaldo, but he is one of the new generations of footballers [soccer] players that are arising. The fact that he was able to win five championships for Porto including the Championship League means that Boswinga is good and that Chelsea must know what it is doing.

Who cannot forget that Jose Boswinga was able to earn seven caps for Portugal and will be participating in Euro 2008 for his country reinforces the fact that Chelsea does not make mistakes. Alberto Da Silva can make whatever comments about Jose Boswinga but he should give Boswinga a chance to prove himself in the Premier League. I am angry when a journalist does not want to give a player who is beginning his or her career in football [soccer] the opportunity that he or she deserves. This is the equivalent of the destructive criticism pervasive in our society and in sports. Jose Boswinga deserves all of the opportunities and praise for signing with Chelsea. Chelsea under the leadership of Avram Grant and the ownership of Abramovich deserves to be praised by the football [sports] world for signing Jose Boswinga and then we shall see what happens. Life is about taking chances with Chelsea and Boswinga taking a chance on each other. Chelsea is taking a chance on a new right back and Boswinga is taking a chance on playing for a Premier League Winner. LEAVE JOSE BOSWINGA ALONE!!!

Seems a good signing, have not seen him play yet though but judging by all the hype he sounds a quality buy. Should be able to access him better during EURO 2008 if he plays.
