The 50 year-old, who led Twente to the Eredivisie league title in 2010, has been lined up to replace Co Adriaanse, following a breakdown in his relationship with players and backroom staff.

McClaren is expected to take over in the next few days after initial discussions with Twente proved successful. The former England and Middlesbrough manager has been waiting for the right job since leaving Nottingham Forest in November after just 10 matches in charge.
